Leaving a gift in your will

Leaving a gift in your will

Your gift, for a lifetime of difference

When you make a donation as a gift in your will, your generosity leaves a legacy that will transform lives for years to come.

SANE has been offering support to those affected by complex mental issues for over 35 years. You can be the reason that our vital work and support continues, by leaving a gift in your will.

Your legacy will help to create a thriving Australia for future generations, where all people are equipped with the skills and knowledge to achieve their best possible mental health. We believe that the future of SANE in supporting better outcomes for Australians and families with complex mental health needs is bright, and we encourage you to be part of this future.

Why should I prepare a will?

We know that your first priority is to look after your family and loved ones. We also know that leaving a gift in your will to SANE is important. A will is a legal document that reflects who and what is most important to you – including the causes that you support. At a time of emotional distress, your will provides your loved ones with a clear understanding of your wishes. We encourage you share your intentions to include SANE in your will with your family, so they can understand why it matters to you.

It is important to remember that your will expresses your wishes at a particular point in time. As your circumstances change, it is suggested that you review your will so that it accurately reflects your current wishes.

What types of gifts can you leave?

  • Residuary – the remainder of your Estate after gifts to family and loved ones are disbursed.
  • Percentage – a percentage of your Estate.
  • Specific – a specific sum of money or specific assets in the form of property, shares or items of value.
  • An investment in perpetuity

SANE welcomes gifts of any kind.

How to leave a gift in your will

We encourage you to consult a professional when making your Will to ensure that the wording is legally correct and appropriate so that your estate is disbursed in the way you wish.

If you already have a Will, you may simply add a codicil to include SANE.

Here is an example of suitable wording for a gift to SANE:

I give free of all duties or taxes the sum of $_______ and/or ______% of my Estate and/or Life Insurance (Policy Number _______) and/or the property situated at ___________________________________ and/or my Residuary Estate to SANE 006 533 606 of PO Box 1226, Carlton, Victoria for its general purposes. The receipt of an authorised officer for the time being of SANE shall constitute a full and sufficient discharge of my executor’s duties.

We are here to help

If you have remembered SANE in your will, we encourage you to complete and return the following Gifts in Will Form. Advising us of your intentions enables us to thank you and keep you updated on the most current developments at SANE and also helps us in our planning for the future.
